About the book:
A moving and powerful story about the meaning of Remembrance Day, drawing on the ANZAC and Turkish battle at Gallipoli In one minute of silence you can imagine sprinting up the beach in Gallipoli in 1915 with the fierce fighting Diggers, but can you imagine standing beside the brave battling Turks as they defended their homeland from the cliffs above... In the silence that follows a war long gone, you can see what the soldiers saw, you can feel what the soldiers felt. And if you try, you might be able to imagine the enemy, and see that he is not so different from you... In One Minute`s Silence, you are the story, and the story is yours - to imagine, remember and honour the brothers in arms on both sides of the conflict, heroes who shed their blood and lost their lives.

James Foley at Federation Square Book Market - Saturday 10 October

James Foley at Federation Square Book Market - Saturday 10 October

James will join us from 12pm - 3pm.
James lives in WA, but is in the eastern states doing a promotional tour for his latest picture book  My Dead Bunny, written by Sigi Hallis Cohen and published by Walker Books Australia.

A hilarious rhyming tale about a zombie bunny who comes back to visit his owner.
The combination of Sigi Cohen's rollicking text and James Foley's irreverent illustrations make this a sure winner with kids (particularly boys) aged 7 to 107.

We are lucky James can join us to demonstrate his illustration skills on the screen in the Atrium and personally sign his books including In the Lion and My Dead Bunny!

Join our event on Facebook.

Check out James' signed books on Books Illustrated's website.

October seems to be a Shaun Tan sort of month!

'Skull Fox', Limited edition print, edition of 150 - $195

October seems to be a Shaun Tan sort of month!

Shaun Tan's latest book, The Singing Bones, published by Allen & Unwin, has just been released. Signed copies are available from Books Illustrated NOW!

In this beautifully presented volume, the essence of seventy-five fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm is wonderfully evoked by Shaun Tan's extraordinary sculptures and his beautifully succinct text.

'These little figures of clay, with their simplified features, their single attributes, are perfect realisations of the strangeness of the characters they represent.'
Philip Pullman, from his foreword to the book.

If you are in Melbourne you have the chance to see an exhibition of these sculptures at:
SHAUN TAN – THE SINGING BONES exhibition
No Vacancy Gallery
Oct 1 to October 18

New prints & Originals
Shaun has chosen 14 of his sculptural illustrations from The Singing Bones to release as limited edition prints -

We also have a new collection of Tan original illustrations available for sale...

'Shelter', Pastel, charcoal and pencil - $2,500 (in specialist frame, museum glass suitable for pastel works)

The Rabbits ...as Opera...
And as part of the Melbourne Festival there will be a showing of an opera based on Shaun Tan & John Marsden’s iconic picture book The Rabbits, published by Lothian Books. They will also be In Conversation at the National Gallery of Victoria on Sunday 11th of October.
